DUAL EDGED BANGLA : Typeface and Packaging Design

BRIEF AND TASK:
This year, we were introduced to the technical area which is Typeface design. The brief was to design a typeface for an Indic script.
The task was to select an Indic script and design a typeface for the same. While designing the script we have to make sure that the legibility, readability and the original form should not be lost. Also, we need to design a minimum of 4 weights.

CONCEPT:
A perfect typeface can always carry any design to another level. So, I always wanted to do something which has a typographical base. Here, I got an opportunity to design a typeface. I chose the Bengali language to learn and to understand the beauty of that script.
In this typeface design, I used thick and thin strokes to formulate Bengali typeface. Light typeface conveys beauty and femininity whereas bold typeface conveys power and masculinity. So I combined both styles.

A VISUAL JOURNEY OF TYPEFACE.

Indic Typography Applications  |  Package Design

The Indian chocolate industry has come a long way since long year. It has a substantial fan base in India. Languages spoken in India belong to several language families. Also Cadbury Dairymilk is very experimental with their flavours and package design. keeping this in mind Cadbury is introducing a package that will discover Indian culture.

Hence, The pattern on each box is created by using Bengali typeface, these patterns are designed using the first letter of the chocolate's flavour. The colour scheme of the boxes is used according to the flavours.
